A Glimpse of Paradise

Every week, we share a stunning photo from our beautiful islands with our Instagram followers as part of our Aloha Friday tradition. This week, we’re grateful to Olga Morales for sharing her breathtaking capture of the Byodo-In Temple on the east side of Oahu.

As you gaze upon Olga’s photo, you can’t help but be struck by the serene beauty of the temple’s entrance. Before crossing the bridge, visitors are treated to a stunning view of the temple, a truly unforgettable moment. Byodo-In Temple is a replica of a 1,000-year-old temple in Uji, Japan, constructed in the 1960s as a commemoration of the first Japanese immigrants to Hawaii.

A Brief History

In 1968, the temple was dedicated to mark the centennial anniversary of the arrival of Japanese immigrants in Hawaii. Since then, it has become a popular tourist destination, attracting visitors from around the world who come to experience the tranquility and beauty of this sacred site.
