Oprah buys 870 Acres in Kula, Maui
Oprah Winfrey, a media mogul and billionaire, has expanded her real estate portfolio in Kula and Hāna by purchasing approximately 870 acres of agricultural land for almost $6.6 million in recent months. Sales deeds reveal that Winfrey’s Los Angeles-based company, Harpo Inc., bought four parcels in total, with 520 acres sold for $3.89 million and 330 acres sold for $2.47 million by ʻUlupalakua Ranch on February 10th. This acquisition adds to the hundreds of acres of real estate that Winfrey already owns in the area.
For many years, Oprah Winfrey has been a part-time resident of Maui. Her first real estate purchases on the island date back to 2004 when she acquired 1,000 acres of Haleakalā Ranch land that featured an 11-room bed-and-breakfast on 17 acres in Kula. Additionally, she acquired over 200 acres of coastal land in Hāna between 2002 and 2005.
