Where to eat in Kihei / Wailea?
Do you find yourself in this age old question with your friends or perhaps significant other?
Either you are new to Maui and have just relocated here or purchased your new elite property, or perhaps you are visiting and considering relocation, Maui offers an amazing variety of delicious one of a kind restaurants that are sure to meet any taste.
Today I am outlining my top picks for the Kihei & Wailea area as every restaurant has its own flare. I highlight the atmosphere for each one.
Today’s picks are focused on casual quick bites with delicious offerings, big portions, reasonable pricing, impeccable service and the Aloha atmosphere.
Best Casual Environments
I also am focusing today on the most welcoming casual environments, to continue your relaxation vibe from the beach into your late breakfast, lunch, or even dinner plans. The beauty of all these restaurants is there is no need to dress fancy, to get delicious food, and epic service!
These spots are not so coveted by locals and residents alike and are hidden gems if you want to experience a dinner that won’t break the bank like some of the finer selections, and will leave you feeling welcomed and satiated.
Akamai Coffee – Having travelled the world, I still believe there is no better latte on the planet, than akamai. Akamai coffee is a coffee shop that offers two locations, one in central Kihei, one in the heart of Wailea overlooking the golf course. Both locations have some of the friendliest staff to help you pick the right latte for you and help you feel welcomed. The Wailea location offers some delicious brunch and lunch selections, my favorite is the avocado toast, or the lox bagel. Pair it with a latte and enjoy the gorgeous views of Kahoolawe as you meet with a new friend, discuss business, or sign documents on your new elite Maui property purchase!
Kihei Cafe – Yet another local favorite breakfast joint, with a welcoming vibe. Don’t let the long line fool you for the service here is extremely fast, and you are always greeted with that Aloha smile by the owners. NEVER a bad experience here, the menu selection offers both hearty and lighter breakfast and lunch options, everything from omelettes, benedicts, to a wide variety of sandwiches. Get here early, or preferably on a weekday if you wish to avoid the long line, but trust me either way, it is well worth it.
Paia Fish Market – Located in the heart of the “Triangle” which is the nightlife sector of Kihei and Wailea area, Paia Fish Market is a small, quick service eatery specializing in all things locally caught fish. Whether you would like a hearty plate of a blackened mahi mahi filet, or a delicious opakapaka (snapper) burger, these folks have got you covered. Pair it with a local kombucha or a delicious local brew, this place is a go to for a late lunch or dinner, if you are looking for a sizable fish portion and a full belly.
That’s a Wrap Maui – This small but super cozy location has one of the most unique menu offerings. Everything from wraps, to acai bowls, noodle bowls, and unique selection of in house made both cold and hot beverages. You are sure to find something on this unique menu that you love. The owners are especially friendly and always make sure that you feel incredibly welcomed, are pleased with your selection and your food. The food choices here can satiate the health conscious or unique diet restrictions such as vegetarian or vegan preferences. Best part of this whole experience you will made to feel like family, whether its your first time here, or you are visiting for the first time. Fork and Salad – One of my favorite local picks, that provides fresh fruits, vegetables as well as beverages that are all sourced right here on Maui. Known for their unique salad and sandwich selections and super friendly staff, you are welcome to either create your own masterpiece, or choose from one of the chef inspired selections, that are truthfully all delicious. My favorite part about this is that they are reasonably priced and provide an option for health conscious individuals to experience local, organic produce and fruits, without breaking the bank. No matter how busy these ladies and gentlemen are, they are always in the best mood and provide amazing customer service, helping you feel right at home.
Here are my top picks for local joints for food that will not break the bank, gives you healthy and hearty options, and the staff of each one helping you feel right at home, whether you are visiting, considering relocation, or a brand new resident of Maui. Share with me in the comments what are some of your favorite reasonable eateries in town? Have you gone to the above mentioned ones? What is your favorite thing on the menu?
